Why are we conditioned to believe that are dreams

Why are we conditioned to believe that are dreams aren't as relevant or "possible" the older we get?
✳️
I especially find this in the performing arts and ESPECIALLY being a woman. ✳️
We are a society seeped in ageism.
✳️
I for one have picked up the belief that following your dreams and doing what really lights you up becomes less and less possible as we age. ✳️
The result: Hustling, scrambling and motivated by fear and a sense of urgency to find some sort of success as I battle with the inevitable factor of time and ageing. ✳️
Repercussion from above result: I am stressed, anxious, not present and sacrificing self-love and self-care to try and manifest my dreams.
✳️
Because of this, I would often put my inner work, my personal development, my spiritual practices on HOLD or they would not be a priority because I didn't HAVE TIME. ✳️
I hit a breaking point and decided I could not live my life that way anymore.
✳️
I have found with age, I am even a better:
✳️
Singer, Songwriter, Writer, Communicator, Mother, Partner, Friend, Activist, Lover...
✳️
I see where I calculated my self-love and worth on the outside and so I work on the inside when it comes to loving myself...
✳️
I'm no longer afraid to share my vulnerabilities because I know doing so helps me to grow and creates impact...
✳️
And this happened because I released the notion that we have to let go of our dreams and growing internally because we are "getting older". ✳️
Be mindful of the ageism and the limitations you have picked up and put on yourself. ✳️
We don't need to co-author each other's lives based on age and what we've accomplished; we are then perpetuating these limiting beliefs onto others (thanks to @drchristianenorthrup for this phrasing). ✳️
Your brain and your body and spirit are all still malleable and can grow and expand...and only if we tell ourselves these messages. .

Deeply examining and becoming aware of my mindset and how it is monumental in actually making transformation has become my primary focus. ✳️
I've always considered myself optimistic, but I simultaneously have been pretty hard on myself in order to push myself to grow. ✳️
I hit a breaking point where I knew this way was no longer sustainable and the change had to happen within me FIRST. ✳️
I was meditating, journaling, creating vision boards, taking courses, doing hypnosis...all of these practices are still fully a part of my life...

But whenever I make a huge shift,
it always derives from doing something CONSISTENTLY (even if only a small amount of time daily).

It's the Anniversary of our Commitment Ceremony and this is the only shot from it (it was just us so we had to do a selfie📷). It's in Hawaii at the Place of Refuge on the Big Island, where historically people would go to renew and cleanse their spirits.🌀 This was our second attempt in trying to do a Commitment Ceremony. A year-and-a-half earlier, we won this contest with MTV and found out when we were in Hawaii.🌴 We had to come home early from our trip to Hawaii where we went to two other weddings. Our plan was to end with our Commitment Ceremony.

My sister convinced us as she helped a ton with our band. She was like, "You gotta come home" and helped us change our flights and pay for it.✈️ We scrambled to change our flights and flew for 24 hours with three connecting flights. I had intermittent tears throughout the flights because we always put the band in front of our relationship; and here it was in full swing...but it was the right move at the time. 🎶

We got home, cleaned our place, jumped in the shower, and then MTV was at our place with video cameras ready to record. They recorded us at our place, in Golden Gate Park and we also did a live recording the following day.🎥 We ended up going back to Hawaii for another wedding and we were doing our damn Commitment Ceremony hell or high water! We scouted the location and found The Place of Refuge the day before.🌴 My vows were very much in poetic/ prose style where Noah recited 39 vows for me (one in which he vowed to always have domesticated animals with me). I ended up having to "asterisk" many of his vows like, "Oh yeah, I'm in on that, too." But essentially throughout, we cried our eyes out (tears of joy nonetheless).😭 We went snorkeling right after at Two Step which felt like you were flying over a forest of coral-complete magic.🐠 We ended up going way out and got caught in a riptide and it was pulling us where we couldn't control where our bodies were going...we spoke some words to each other as we tried to stay calm but seriously thought this may be it.
After about 5 minutes, we managed to get out and we swam rapidly back to shore. Cont'd in comments...

As I've been diving into Self-love and trying to share what I've learned (I truly want everyone to experience it), I realize you can't just simply tell yourself or someone to "love yourself" when you may not really know HOW...seriously. ☑️It's not a box you can check off because you treated yourself to a massage (although that is a way you can SHOW yourself self-love).
I believe it can begin by the way we speak to ourselves in our mind.
☑️I push myself to grow in every way but the way I used to talk to myself was more or less in the vein of how a Olympic Gymnastics Coach would talk to the gymnast...tough love!
Or I would shame or guilt myself in order to make a change in my life.
It really is a form of violent communication within ourselves.
💙When I really started to notice the way I spoke to myself, it was such an awakening.
We are so USED to the way we do that we don't even notice it.
🗣️Change the way you talk to yourself and your life will truly change.

This all makes sense but unfortunately it's not that easy.
Most of us were taught to tell others how much we love them, but never say it to ourselves.
That would be silly, right? 😕
⚡Most of us were raised to validate our worth by what we do and how "good" or "bad" the things we DO are.
⚡We often aren't taught that there is no human ever like us, and there never will be and we are ENOUGH just by simply being who we are. ⚡Our self-love and self-worth forms OUTSIDE of ourselves and we consciously and subconsciously pick up beliefs as to who we are and how we should BE. ⚡ We don't practice loving and accepting ourselves in the same way we practice learning numbers and letters. 💙So when you hear the message to just love yourself, most of us don't really know HOW, because we never really learned in the first place.
This goes beyond taking yourself to get a pedicure or relaxing on the beach (although those are ways to show yourself love). 🌺One way is to get super aware of all the limiting beliefs that you picked up that dictated your self-love and self-worth. 💙Self-love and worth is fully inside of you. We build up so many layers over time that are stored mostly in the subconscious mind, but also the conscious mind and in our bodies. 🌺These limiting beliefs are playing like a reel in our minds and allowing stress, anxiety and fear to take center stage. 💙I have done so much work around this. A huge breakthrough for me was through my mentor and doing a 5 Day Challenge while commiting to a 28 Day Gratitude Practice...all of this is free but worth (see what I did there) it's weight in gold. 🌺If you are interested in this put "WORTH" in the comments and I am happy to send you these life changing tools to really help move the needle in your life.

Money is so triggering for most of us: 💲I have to hustle and stress and do something I don't love just to make ends meet.
💲Money makes people shallow, materialistic and greedy.
💲Money isn't spiritual.
💲Most musicians, dancers or any artist will "starve" and will never make enough to do the thing they love.
💲Why should I have money when there are so many hungry and homeless people in the world?
💲I could never afford that.
💲That's too expensive.
💲You have to come from money to have stability to make it on your own.

These are the primary belief systems and phrases I have come to find in myself. I think many of them are fairly common. ❔What's one that you have that may be blocking you from receiving money?

Although, I do have fairly strong examples that support these belief systems (and I think they are common for good reason), this doesn't mean that I have to subscribe to them.

Note to self: If you are an a-hole and money is energy, then it will most likely amplify your a-holeness.

I have invested money in different courses this past year to: 💸Discover the belief systems I've picked up surrounding money
💸Remove the energetic blocks that keep me in a place of scarcity
💸Allow myself to dream and strategize and invite money into my life without sacrificing my happiness
💸Change my relationship with money
💸Allow me to increase my income so I can help others.

I want to create positive impact on people's lives. I cannot do so if I am: 😟Worried about money
😟 Coming from a place of scarcity
😟Just getting by 😟Doing something that sucks my soul or doesn't allow me to serve in the way I envision
😟Stressing about money
😟 Hustling for money

In my 28 day gratitude practice, you looked back on your life and wrote out all of the things where money helped you and you gave sincere thanks to those things.

Even if you grew up where money was a point of contention in your family,
or you feel like you are struggling now, you
💲give gratitude for all the money that has been given to you and all the money you have now!💲 Being grateful for everything you had and what you have NOW shifts your mindset and energy to a place of abundance.
